Raku generally refers to a type of low-firing process that was inspired by traditional Japanese raku firing. Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. Raku fired pottery is not food safe.

What is featured potter of the month?
Our goal of the Featured Potter of the Month is for people to have an opportunity to get to know the artists. All potters who have items for sale in the Train Station Pottery Shop have one month in which they, along with their pottery, are featured in the shop and on our website. There is no order importance and all potters are featured at one time or another.
Who makes the pottery?
We have several member potters that sell their creations in the Train Station Pottery Shop. We also have several Arrowsmith Potters Guild members that do not sell their work, but they are members of the Guild. Some members have their own home studios and some do not.
